Ingredients:
Main Casserole:
- 1½ lbs (680 g) ground beef (80/20 for flavor)
- 6 medium russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (~1/8-inch thick)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter (for sautéing)
Cream Sauce:
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups whole milk (warm)
- ½ cup beef broth (optional for extra flavor)
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Meat Filling
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp olive oil or butter over medium heat.

- In a saucepan, melt 3 tbsp butter over medium heat.
