Greek Chicken Mezze Platter with Lemon Drizzle


Introduction

This Greek Chicken Mezze Platter is a vibrant and fresh sharing dish packed with Mediterranean flavors. Perfect for a casual dinner, entertaining guests, or a summer feast, the platter features juicy grilled Greek-marinated chicken, served with warm pita, crisp vegetables, creamy hummus, and a zesty lemon drizzle to tie it all together. Ingredients

🐔 For the Greek Chicken Marinade:

  • 500g boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

🍋 For the Lemon Drizzle:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated or minced
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

🍅 For the Mezze Platter:

  • 1 cup hummus (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup tzatziki
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup Kalamata olives
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • Warm pita bread or flatbreads
  • Fresh parsley or dill, for garnish
  • Optional: pickled red onions or pepperoncini

Method & Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken

  • In a large bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and zest, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour (overnight is best for deeper flavor).

2. Make the Lemon Drizzle

  • Whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, honey, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until emulsified.
  • Taste and adjust lemon or sweetness to preference. Set aside.

3. Cook the Chicken

  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface.
  • Cook the marinated chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden, charred in spots, and cooked through.
  • Rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly.

4. Prepare the Platter

  • Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a pan.
  • On a large serving board or platter, arrange:
    • A bowl of hummus
    • A bowl of tzatziki
    • Sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes
    • Red onion, olives, and feta
    • Grilled chicken slices
    • Warm pita triangles

5. Finish with Lemon Drizzle

  • Drizzle the lemon dressing over the chicken and vegetables.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or dill.
