🥩 Introduction:
The Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring is a fun twist on the classic Philadelphia cheesesteak. By using crescent roll dough, we wrap up the delicious filling of seasoned beef, sautéed onions, peppers, and provolone cheese into a beautiful, golden ring that’s easy to pull apart and serve. It’s crowd-pleasing, flavorful, and surprisingly simple to make!
📝 Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak or sirloin, very thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
For the Ring:
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: parsley or sesame seeds for garnish
👩🍳 Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Step 2: Cook the Filling
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.
- Add onions and peppers. Sauté for 5–6 minutes until softened.
- Add the thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cook until the steak is browned and just cooked through (about 3–4 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Step 3: Assemble the Crescent Ring
- Open the crescent roll cans and separate into 16 individual triangles.
- On the prepared baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a circle with the short ends slightly overlapping in the center and the points facing outward, forming a sunburst shape.
- Lay slices of provolone cheese overlapping around the inner ring.
- Spoon the steak and veggie mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
- Fold the tips of the crescent dough triangles over the filling and tuck them under the center ring. It’s okay if a little filling shows.
Step 4: Bake the Ring
- Brush the top of the ring with the beaten egg for a golden crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
🧀 Serving Suggestions:
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley or sesame seeds if desired.
- Pair with a dipping sauce like garlic aioli, spicy mustard, or cheese sauce.
✅ Tips:
- For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar over the steak before folding the dough.
- You can substitute the steak with shaved roast beef for a shortcut.
- Make it spicy by adding sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the filling.
