Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring Recipe

🥩 Introduction:

The Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring is a fun twist on the classic Philadelphia cheesesteak. By using crescent roll dough, we wrap up the delicious filling of seasoned beef, sautéed onions, peppers, and provolone cheese into a beautiful, golden ring that’s easy to pull apart and serve. It’s crowd-pleasing, flavorful, and surprisingly simple to make!

📝 Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak or sirloin, very thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

For the Ring:

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: parsley or sesame seeds for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Step 2: Cook the Filling

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.
  2. Add onions and peppers. Sauté for 5–6 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Cook until the steak is browned and just cooked through (about 3–4 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3: Assemble the Crescent Ring

  1. Open the crescent roll cans and separate into 16 individual triangles.
  2. On the prepared baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a circle with the short ends slightly overlapping in the center and the points facing outward, forming a sunburst shape.
  3. Lay slices of provolone cheese overlapping around the inner ring.
  4. Spoon the steak and veggie mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
  5. Fold the tips of the crescent dough triangles over the filling and tuck them under the center ring. It’s okay if a little filling shows.

Step 4: Bake the Ring

  1. Brush the top of the ring with the beaten egg for a golden crust.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
  3. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

🧀 Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley or sesame seeds if desired.
  • Pair with a dipping sauce like garlic aioli, spicy mustard, or cheese sauce.

Tips:

  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar over the steak before folding the dough.
  • You can substitute the steak with shaved roast beef for a shortcut.
  • Make it spicy by adding sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the filling.
